Blanket Fort As Ritual Practice : A Physical Poetry Workshop

  • Point Green 260 Java Street Brooklyn, NY, 11222 United States (map)
Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Presented by Confetti Armor.

No one will be turned away for lack of funds and no experience of any kind is necessary to attend this workshop.

Please RSVP on Facebook here, or email Point Green at

This workshop uses the body, the voice, informal dance, play, and the creation of the embodied altar that is a blanket fort.

As we define this/these boundaries, we will create a liminal space. This space will be ours, an external manifestation of the meanings, charges and intentions we create for it.

At the end of the workshop, we will deconstruct our fort. We will collaborate on the creation and destruction of a space that could only exist momentarily, as a result of our shared influence—direct communion with the ephemeral.

Participants will receive an audio recording of what will be a collaborative music composition. A zine of whatever (words and other detritus) will be collected, in 2 dimensional form.

This is a practice of physical poetry. The physical includes the body, sound, movement, words, and the materials of soft construction. This is an offering of intention, vulnerability and shared effort.

Comprised of Spencer Hanvik and Garrett Miller, Confetti Armor is a digital synthpop/sound/installation/poetry/performance/art/education duo based in Bushwick.

Through their work, they seek to embody and to project softness & strength, celebration & protection, openness & defense—while moving beyond these (& *ideally* any) dualisms/binaries.

Sometimes through synthpop music, sometimes through multimedia multisensory interactive/immersive installation, often always through collaboration (on both sides of the 4th wall and from the neighbor’s stoop across the street & the courtyard next door), Confetti Armor creates offerings of space to be entered, explored, changed, and ultimately carried away home as this space is redissolved into the hearts of participants/audience/co-creators of the offering.

It is an invitation to know/learn/relearn/touch/create/dissolve/enforce boundaries.
